  • Why Kannaway is dedicated to professionalism for the cannabis industry

Based in San Diego, CA, Kannaway is in the hemp and CBD oil space, creating CBD supplements and hemp lifestyle products for modern consumers.

The first company to use the direct sales model to distribute CBD oil products, Kannaway empowers its brand ambassadors to create their own CBD oil business and find their own success in this booming industry.

Kannaway has established a clear and cohesive system to assist brand ambassadors grow their companies from the bottom up, starting on day one with brand education, outreach, and training, to give our business owners the chance to excel.

The company also hosts a series of monthly red carpet events and yearly conferences to gather its family of ambassadors together for a celebration of successes, education about the Kannaway system, and a chance to network among the Kannaway family.

Kannaway’s Hemp Oil is derived from legal non-GMO European industrial hemp, utilizing proprietary extraction methods to extract the hemp oil from the mature stalk. To ensure products will meet the highest quality standards, each batch of hemp oil undergoes Triple Lab Testing, which includes 3 separate tests between harvest and final packaging for sale.

Kannaway was the first in the industry to create testing processes like these, ensuring that every natural product is free of contaminants and of the highest quality possible.

What makes you a leader in the cannabis industry?

Kannaway pioneered the CBD oil industry with its line of hemp-derived CBD products. We continue to innovate, creating new products, opening new markets, and expanding into new directions in the hemp industry, including our new hemp clothing and accessories brand Hempy’s.

What’s the most innovative feature of your philosophy, product or brand?

Kannaway brings the immense opportunity of the booming CBD oil industry to everyone through our unique direct sales approach to the cannabis industry. Our CBD hemp oil products take advantage of hemp’s federal status in the U.S. to make cannabinoids and the benefits of hemp available to customers in the U.S. and around the world.

Among your peers in the cannabis industry, what or who inspires you?

Kannaway is inspired by all cannabis advocates working hard every day to bring the benefits of cannabinoids to as many people as possible. It is only through their hard work that we are able to get our products in the hands of customers all around the world. These advocates include the non-profit educational and charitable organization ECHO, which works with medical cannabis patients in a number of countries to help them access the cannabinoids they need.

Why are you passionate about what you do?

Kannway’s mission is to improve the physical and financial well-being of people around the world. We see the difference made in the lives of our brand ambassadors who find success distributing our products and in the lives of their customers as they add Kannaway CBD oil products to their systems every day.

What will move the cannabis industry forward in 2018?

As the cannabis industry becomes even more prevalent and mainstream, the key to success of any individual company as well as the industry as a whole, is to bring about the level of professionalism that mainstream consumers have come to expect. This is a big part of the reason why we’re focused and dedicated on developing and improving our product offering, introducing new procedures and processes and finding new and innovative ways to exceed our customer’s expectations.

Hemp, Inc.

NOMINATIONS:
Best Cannabis Companies: Best Hemp Company
Best in the Industry: Best Online Video/Series for Could Hemp Save The Planet?

This leader in the industrial hemp industry owns the largest commercial multi-purpose industrial hemp processing facility in North America.

READ THE Q&A

  • How Hemp, Inc. plans to save the American family farm
  • What Hemp, Inc. does to empower small farmers
  • Why Hemp, Inc. is providing green solutions to the oil, gas, and automotive industries

Based in Spring Hope, NC, Hemp, Inc. is a global leader in the industrial hemp industry with the largest commercial multi-purpose industrial hemp processing facility in North America.

Hemp, Inc. believes there can be tangible benefits reaped from adhering to a corporate social responsibility plan. Founded in 2008, the company’s mission is to provide green solutions that help make the world a better place to live. Hemp products are eco friendly, healthy, and can often replace petroleum-based products.

In 2017, Hemp Inc. planted hundreds of acres of industrial hemp and high CBD hemp in North Carolina, Kentucky, Colorado, Nevada, and Oregon.

Hemp, Inc. CEO Bruce Perlowin said  “For a long time, everyone thought hemp was marijuana. The politicians have been educated. It’s much more accountable when you can’t get high – from hemp we can make rope, clothes, circulation material. Hearst paper mills and DuPont plastic aren’t around – there’s no real pushback to hemp anymore. The public-at-large doesn’t know as much about hemp as the politicians do. We have massive bipartisan support.”

What’s the most innovative feature of your philosophy, product or brand?

With a deep-rooted social and environmental mission at its core, Hemp, Inc. seeks to build a business constituency for the American small farmer, the American veteran, and other groups experiencing the ever-increasing disparity between tapering income and soaring expenses.

Why are you passionate about what you do?

Providing ‘green’ solutions to industries that have a direct impact on the well-being of our planet – such as the oil, gas, and automotive industries – while supporting the local family farm creates a ‘win, win’ scenario for our Company as we continue to identify new opportunities to expand Hemp, Inc.’s footprint in 2018.

What will move the cannabis industry forward in 2018?

Hemp, Inc. announced on Jan. 4, 2018, that the Company was shipping its first purchase orders of loss-circulation material DrillWall and Kenaf fiber, making Spill-Be-Gone the third natural plant product the Company has begun selling this year.

READ THE Q&A

  • How Adelia Carrillo helped shape the cannabis industry by founding Direct Cannabis Network
  • What Direct Cannabis Network does to “remind us why we’re all here”
  • Why Adelia Carrillo believes technology will move the industry forward

Based in San Diego, CA, Adelia Carrillo is the founder of Direct Cannabis Network. Her roots were built in the consumer electronics industry with a background in business development, sales, and marketing.

Through her own personal journey of being a patient, she soon found herself studying the industry as a whole and found that the industry was missing a focus on the cannabis entrepreneurs, innovation, and technology. This is where her journey of developing Direct Cannabis Network began. Adelia being a natural born leader strives to motivate, inspire, lead and build a community and voice for the cannabis entrepreneurs and startups.

Direct Cannabis Network is the leading digital B2B news network highlighting the latest tech, entrepreneurs and innovative companies through original content. Their mission is to create an entrepreneurial ecosystem that elevates the ideas, connects the communities, and raises the expectations of the cannabis industry.

What makes you a leader in the cannabis industry?

For me, my mission is to empower, inspire and motivate others to follow their dreams, to believe in themselves and to push themselves to become a better human, entrepreneur and advocate in the cannabis industry and overall. I believe that my role and goal as a leader is to help shape the industry by the values and discussions we create on DCN as I believe we have the opportunity to make this industry better than any other industry out there.

What’s the most innovative feature of your philosophy, product or brand?

The “WHY”, we created a news network focused on entrepreneurship, tech, innovation at DCN for entrepreneurs, investors and professionals who are in the cannabis industry, wanting to get in or just learn about the business to business side of this industry in a more approachable, modern way. But there is more to that.

Our real main goal was to make sure we reminded people of the WHY we are all here, we want everyone to be reminded when they are on DCN, the real importance behind this industry which is the plant. People are still in prison who risked their lives for this plant, parents are moving across state for their families, professionals are living well- established careers because of something they believe in. This goes to my comment above, but again by us being reminded of the WHY, we will be able to build this industry better than any other industry.

Why are you passionate about what you do?

To be honest, it’s because of what cannabis has done personally for me. I have truly found myself, I have become a better human, I push myself to do things I never would have imagined and I feel like I finally found my place and mission for what I want to do for the world.

Among your peers in the cannabis industry, what or who inspires you?

Honestly, I am inspired each and every day by each passionate entrepreneur I meet, I get to hear the passion in each of their voices on what they believe in, I am inspired by the advocates, leaders and patients who are helping making a difference as we continue to build each day. So, to be fair, I can’t really name one person.

What will move the cannabis industry forward in 2018?

Technology and Innovation. I am a full believer that as we continue to combine cannabis and tech together, we will be able to have more data and information and studies on what this plant can do and how we can really make a better impact in the world.

Canna-Hub

NOMINATION:
Best Cannabis Companies: Best Real Estate Company

This California-based company seeks to build Canna-Hub Business Communities, or “cannabis hubs,” that accommodate numerous cannabis licensees and offers local permitting fees that are among the lowest in the state.

READ THE Q&A

  • How Canna-Hub plans to have the most valuable real estate portfolio in cannabis
  • What Canna-Hub does to lower permitting and licensing fees for businesses
  • Why 2018 will be a big year for Canna-Hub business parks

Based in Sacramento, CA, Canna-Hub plans to build the most sophisticated and valuable real estate portfolio in the cannabis industry.

Canna-Hub was formed in 2017 for the sole purpose of identifying, acquiring, and developing lower-cost properties without cannabis zoning, while working closely with city government officials to effect zoning changes on the identified property.

Canna-Hub has already identified several sites in strategically located cities that can accommodate hundreds of cannabis licensees in an organized manner through the development of Canna-Hub Business Communities, or “cannabis hubs.” The real estate developments will have availability for cultivation, manufacturing, distribution, transport, service or supply vendors, and testing labs.

Helmed by Canna-Hub founder and CEO Tim McGraw, an experienced commercial real estate developer who has also designed or built cannabis specific facilities in several states and abroad, the cannabis hubs will boast about 12 state license types per site.

What makes you a leader in the cannabis industry?

Canna-Hub Business Communities, or “cannabis hubs,” accommodate numerous cannabis licensees and offers local permitting fees that are among the lowest in the State. Cannabis hubs have already received local city zoning and authorization for indoor cultivation, greenhouses, nurseries, volatile and non-volatile manufacturing, tissue culture labs, third-party testing labs, distribution, and transport.

What’s the most innovative feature of your philosophy, product or brand?

Multiple licensees in a properly zoned business park create valuable synergies that support long-term success. We offer some of the lowest permitting fees in the state by working closely with local officials to encourage outcomes that favor businesses’ profitability.

Why are you passionate about what you do?

I’m passionate about ending the war on drugs and supporting operators on the forefront of this multi-billion dollar industry. The local benefits with regards to jobs, improved infrastructure, and overall economic stimulus that accompany our developments are also game-changing for local residents. We strive to be good neighbors in the communities in which we operate.

What will move your company forward in 2018?

This year we look forward to filling our Canna-Hub cannabis business parks with the most sophisticated and innovative operators from California and other states who are eager to be at the forefront of California’s new industry.

The Cannabis Reporter Radio Show

NOMINATIONS:
Best Cannabis Companies: Best Radio Show, Best Podcast

This all-cannabis podcast was the first to be nationally syndicated by terrestrial radio networks, with the mission to empower advocacy through awareness-building content.

READ THE Q&A

  • How The Cannabis Reporter appeals to a broad audience across generations
  • What The Cannabis Reporter prioritizes for awareness-building content
  • Why The Cannabis Reporter has earned the trust of even conservative audiences

Based in Phoenix, AZ, The Cannabis Reporter is as entertaining as it is educational. The podcast demystifies cannabis by presenting the medical, economic, environmental and social advantages of regulation in a way that appeals to audiences of all levels of awareness and acceptance.

The Cannabis Reporter boasts a knowledgeable staff with diverse experience in the cannabis industry. At the helm is radio host and editor-in-chief Snowden Bishop, an award-winning producer and journalist whose career began as an anchor at NBC affiliates. The show has two medical advisors: Dr. Bryan Doneris,  the voice of The Cannabis Reporter Radio Show’s Medical Marijuana Minute, and Christian Bogner, M.D., an expert on using medical cannabis for managing autism spectrum disorders.

The podcast features interviews with experts, policymakers and other individuals shaping the future of cannabis culture.

What makes you a leader in the cannabis industry?

Our approach the topic of cannabis reaches beyond just hard-core advocates and appeals to diverse, cross-generational and often-skeptical talk-radio listeners who won’t ordinarily go out of their way to learn about the benefits of cannabis online. Combined with our high production value, sophisticated format and noteworthy guests, this approach has earned the trust of skeptical audiences and garnered acceptance by hundreds of station owners who have never added an all-cannabis show to their programming line-ups before.

What’s the most innovative feature of your philosophy, product or brand?

While there are a lot of amazing cannabis media outlets online, we realized that we can’t grow the congregation (advocacy and acceptance) by preaching to the choir (people who already love cannabis). Utilizing terrestrial radio in both regulation and prohibition states, we can reach more conservative-leaning audiences who aren’t aware of cannabis or have no desire to learn about it online.

Why are you passionate about what you do?

We are firm believers that cannabis has potential to transform the field of medicine and pave the way for a more prosperous, socially just and sustainable future. Based upon the racist falsehoods of Reefer Madness propaganda, the War On Drugs has been one of the most damaging and costly policies enacted in our nation’s history. While failing to curb illicit drug use, it has enriched organized crime syndicates siphoning money out of our economy and socially irresponsible special interests that profit from prohibition.

Prosecution of marijuana offenses has destroyed millions of lives and disproportionately impacted minority youths while perpetuating a cycle of poverty and crime by significantly diminishing their eligibility for gainful employment. Now that science is validating the medical importance of cannabis, we are highly motivated to expose the truth, remove the stigma and engender demand for federal regulation so that every patient who needs the healing power of cannabis can have access without fear of retribution.

Among your peers in the cannabis industry, what or who inspires you?

We admire leaders in our community who have boldly defied convention and risked everything to advocate for the movement. It takes courage to be on the right side of history and leaders come in many different forms, but those who are on the front lines helping to bring awareness, defend justice and lobby for policy change have our admiration.

What will move the cannabis industry forward in 2018?

Greater public awareness leading to acceptance, advocacy and activism is the key to galvanizing the political support needed to end prohibition for once and for all. While some lawmakers claim more U.S. research is needed before they will support federal policy reform, decision makers at academic and scientific institutions claim that policy change is needed before they can conduct research and clinical study.

With the anti-marijuana sentiment emanating from the current Administration, the only way to stop the madness is to create a sense of urgency on Capitol Hill, and that won’t happen unless enough advocates pick up the phone to lobby their Congressional representatives. As we are continually expanding our distribution to reach more untapped radio markets, we urge industry stakeholders who want the law to change to get involved, activate their networks and support the awareness efforts that inspire action.
