Roxy is Janell Thompson’s furry friend, and she was the inspiration behind Hemp Health’s unique line of CBD products for pets. This woman has the kind of heart that you look for behind a brand and has the kind of drive and passion that this industry needs to spread the awareness for better health.
What was the deciding factor for you to join this particular industry?
Once I learned about the multitude of natural health benefits CBD provides, I knew right away that I had to be involved. I saw the potential to help people out there and spread awareness and it’s just something that I’m very passionate about.

What skills from your previous experiences helped you in what you are doing now?
Well, when I moved out to California four years ago, I started my own wholesale business. That’s really helped us pave the way to a lot of relationships in which Katarina and I still use today in both Hemp Health, Inc. and Hemp Hookahzz LLC which gave us a lot of knowledge about how the wholesale and distribution side of the industry works.
Right now, where are you guiding your passion and energy towards?
I think there is a huge lack of awareness of the benefits of this plant. So many people don’t know that you can obtain one of the most important compounds, CBD, without the psychoactive or ‘high’ effect. So, I would say that raising awareness of the miraculous powers of this plant is where the focus of my passion is right now.
Describe your work ethic to me in one word.
Persistance.
What do you consider your weakness as an entrepreneur? Your strength?
I would definitely say that speaking infront of a camera or being put on the spot is an area I’d like to improve upon – I just kinda freeze up. I’m also fairly new to this industry and I feel like I still have a lot to learn about the science surrounding this plant, but it is something I am working on educating myself on every day.
As far as strengths go, I would say they’d be my perseverance and passion. I’ve never been really good at following rules; if I see something that I want to do, I’ll do it and I’ll get there no matter what!
How are you differentiating yourself from the competition?
We’ve always been committed to bringing a uniquely designed product to the market, and not only that, but to manufacture and produce a top-quality product. I feel like in this past year, every production run we’ve been through, we’ve consistently improved one thing or another and we will continue doing that to provide the best products for our customers.
How do you find inspiration in this industry? What have you found that has inspired you?
Seeing patients in the news and media who’ve found relief from this amazing plant is really what continues to inspire me every day. In addition to that, hearing personal testimonies from our own customers about how our products are helping them with their various conditions is beyond rewarding.
Hemp Health, Inc.’s pharma CBD line of pet products was inspired by my 12-yr-old furr baby, Roxy. Labradors, especially, are prone to tumors as well as hip dysplasia and arthritis. Roxy has had 7 tumors removed in the past 3 yrs and her age began showing when she started to limp and seemed to be having trouble and being in pain when walking up the stairs. From the moment I learned about CBD’s potential to induce the death of cancer cells and its anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties, I began supplementing her right away. She rarely limps anymore and actually runs and plays like a puppy some days. My mission is to provide a natural alternative with no known side effects and no possibility of overdose, to as many people and pets as possible.
What’s the best advice you’ve ever gotten?
This isn’t necessarily advice that someone gave me, but I read a quote once that said, ‘If you can imagine it, you can achieve it. If you can dream it, you can become it.’ And that quote has always really sang to me because, without ever really consciously acknowledging it, it is always how I’ve lived my life.
What’s your newest knowledge about the marijuana industry?
Gosh, where do I start? I feel like I learn something new about this industry every single day. As far as industry news, I learned the other day that a credit union is dedicating itself to the cannabis industry and should be opening by the end of this month. A lot of people in this industry require banking so this is a really large stride for the progression of this movement.

If you could rewind time to 5 years ago, how would your business be different?
I would definitely be much farther ahead than I am now. I would’ve gotten a head start on spreading awareness, I would have delved into this market a lot sooner, and I would have the advantage of knowing what I know now in terms of our product development. If the point at which we are now was the point we were at 5 years ago, the market and medicinal community would have had a quality product much earlier in their lifetime. But there is no rewinding time, our focus is on the here and now and developing products to make our customers’ lives better!
What will we be seeing from you and Hemp Health, Inc. in the coming future?
You can expect to see a new, unique, quality, yet affordable line of CBD products and supplements. We want everyone to have access to these and we want everybody to know that the benefits of these supplements are not only for bettering those who are horribly sick, but are also for everyone in general. It’s like a vitamin, it’s something that our body lacks and we need it every single day!
